Jackie: The Farmington Years

Yes, I know this post is ill-timed, since Halloween was last Saturday, but... let's be real, who wouldn't want to dress like Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis any day of the week?

Now, if you know me, you know I am a little obsessed with the Kennedys right now. This includes Jackie. I've read America's Queen and am beginning Mrs. Kennedy. So I can say pretty confidently that I know a good deal about Jackie O.

I know about her AND love her style. Who doesn't? And so, this is Post No. 1 in a series on how to update the Jackie look, from various stages of her life.

Jackie: The Farmington Years
For those that don't know, "Farmington" is what those in the know call Miss Porter's School in, yep, Farmington, CT. Jackie kept to herself there but is remembered as the consummate prep school girl. Miss Porter's had a rigid dress code, and Jackie wasn't the style icon that we know and love today while she was there. She loved riding her horse more than anything and was actually kind of a tomboy.

So this look is anything but put-together. Because, in prep school, Jackie wasn't. She was the child of a divorcee living on her stepdad's money, kind of out-of-place in a WASP-y environment. So this outfit is purposefully messy and thrown-together. But it's comfortable, functional and it would keep her warm while she's tramping around in the cold CT fall.
